Reigning World Series of Poker Champion Joe Hachem was just eliminated in 238th place. He was involved preflop in a three-way all-in situation with pocket aces. His opponents held A-Q and pocket jacks. A jack on the flop ruined Hachem's hopes of a repeat.
He may not have gone as deep this year as 2004 champ Greg Raymer went last year (when he finished 25th), but Hachem's defense of his title was very impressive. He finished in the top 2.7% of the largest field in history, with the biggest target on his back.
Congratulations, Joe! The Main Event, from this point forward, won't be the same without you.
In other news, there are 237 players remaining as play continues toward the dinner break. If we reach 150 players today, we'll be a full day ahead of the published schedule.
