Got some time off or paid holiday slots coming your way this festive season? Instead of taking a standard pleasure trip, you may want to consider adding a little bit of poker to your adventures.
There are many great poker destinations all throughout the world that offer fantastic card rooms and casinos, big tournaments and unique experiences that can only be found in these specific locations. Whether you want to be in the U.S. or travel to some less obvious poker destinations, there are a multitude of options for you to explore.
Here are five poker destinations to consider:
Location 1 – Las Vegas, Nevada
I know this seems like an obvious choice, but getting away to Vegas during the holidays is the perfect excuse to visit Sin City if it’s been awhile since your last visit. One of the biggest advantages that Las Vegas has over other choices on this list is that the city has practically more entertainment options available within a few square miles than any other tourist spot on the globe, allowing you to gamble and take in a first-rate show in the same night.
Location 2 – Macau, China
It’ll be a pretty long flight to get there, but Macau is known as the gaming hub of the East, with over 28 casinos located nearby. Poker is a new hot commodity there as well, since it was just legalised two years ago.
Location 3 – Barcelona, Spain
Considered a must-see location when travelling through Europe, Barcelona is home to its own state-run casino (the Casino de Barcelona) that hosts a yearly EPT (European Poker Tour) tournament. Additionally, the casino is surrounded by a number of five-star hotels that completes your overall holiday experience.
Location 4 – Los Angeles, CA
Second probably only to Las Vegas in terms of high-end card rooms, Los Angeles plays host to the Commerce Casino, the largest venue of its kind in the world. However, if you don’t want to brave the huge crowds there you’ll find the Bicycle Casino, Hustler Casino, Hawaiian Gardens and almost a dozen other card rooms within a 30 minute drive in various directions.
