In the last article on Great Poker Gifts we talked about a couple of suggestions towards making purchases for casual poker players. This time around we are going to take a look at picking up a few gifts for those that take the game a lot more seriously and put in a large amount of time at the live tables. Shopping for poker grinders can be tough since they’ve probably picked up most of the necessity items that they need to compete at the highest levels, so instead you should look into getting them something that will enhance their overall experience.

Poker Gift 1 – Good Headphones

Just about everyone nowadays has an iPod or some other type of MP3 player, and most of them are content with using the dingy ear buds that come packaged with the device. Invest a little into a good pair of stereo headphones that sound far better than standard headsets and your poker player will thank you for helping the time fly at the table.

Poker Gift 2 – Tinted Sunglasses

My personal pair of sunglasses cost me a few hundred dollars, so I’m not exactly thrilled about the idea of bringing them into a crowded card room, which is why I picked up a second comfortable pair for far less. If your poker grinder already has sunglasses they use while playing, now they have a back-up pair that they can keep in the car at all times, which can be used as an alternative.

Poker Gift 3 – Personalised Notepad

Live players don’t have the advantage of logging notes into a computer while they play, so many casino grinders keep a notepad on them to track win/loss data and opponent stats. These pads can be picked up at any store that sells pens and paper, but if you want to go the extra mile then you can get one from a business that will engrave the player’s name on there. The nicer the notepad is, the more likely the person is to use it.

Never feel obligated to spend a lot of money on your poker-themed gift. You can easily get any of the above items for under $40, so don’t exceed your budget if you don’t want to.
