Leading Up To The Final Table

By: Jennifer Browning – August 10, 2006

We are down to the final table. Here's a look at the last two days leading us to the final WSOP nine.

Richard Wyrick, from Lake Mary, Fla., doubles up to help him move to Day 7.

For Wyrick, the WSOP was his second large live tournament. He played in the PartyPoker Million in March. He didn't place in the money for the Caribbean cruise tournament, but he made up for it here. The online qualifier began each day low stacked and doubled up enough each time to hang on and continue the next day. His wife, Laura, along with his brother flew to Las Vegas to watch his final days of play.

David Einhorn goes all in after the flop and is called by Rob Berryman and William Thorsson. Berryman is eliminated, Thorsson wins the side pot, and Einhorn begins to pile in the chips.

William Thorson debates whether to call Einhorn and Barryman. Thorsson calls and Einhorn ends up with all the chips.

Rob Roseman quietly seemed to come out of nowhere. His quiet, calm nature helped him at the table. It was common to see the day trader take down pots.

Paul Raeburn, a Scot who now lives in Denmark, carried on throughout the tournament usually with a more than average chip stack. Raeburn learned to play poker eight months ago and qualified for the WSOP, his first live tournament, in May. He busted out Day 6 but said he plans to qualify online and return in 2007.

San Antonio's Richard Lee, worked his way to third in chips with a couple of gutsy all-ins. Maybe it's his grandson on his card protector?

Michael Binger hung on low stacked most of the evening. He had one exciting all-in at the end. He survives and will be seen at the final table today.

Chip leader Jamie Gold is often seen talking with Johnny Chan.

Awesome shots, Jen!
