Day 3 of the Aussie Millions Main Event turned out to be the shortest of the contest so far with Matt Turk taking over at the top of the leader board from the Day 2 champion, Tim O’Shea. Seventy-five players took to the tables at the start of the day and three of these unlucky guys would go home without winning a penny.
It didn’t take them long to get to the cash but there was some long hard play before Frank Paul was taken out of play and given the honour of becoming “bubble boy”. The bubble-broken players began leaving the tables left, right and centre with several big names leaving for an early bath including Kenna James who left the game in 57th place and joining him on the rail was Michael Tureniec, Billy Argyros and the 2012 Aussie Millions $1,000 Rebuy Champion from last week, Michael Pedley.
It was the final hand of the night that enabled Matt Turk to take the chip lead with several other players struggling to keep up with the pace, including Wednesday’s chip leader, Tim O’Shea who just about managed to finish the day with more chips than he started.
The remaining 26 players return to the Crown Casino, Melbourne on Friday and all will be aiming to reach that final table and ultimately be crowned the Main Event Champion. At the moment the leader board has Matt Turk in first place with a staggering 2,675 million chips, Tim O’Shea is in second place with 1,376 million chips, with Patrick Healy not too far behind with 1,353 million.
