WSOPE Main Event: Brit Max Silver Maintains Lead

by John

As the business end of the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) main event comes over in Cannes, France, it would only be right for pokerblog to let you know the ups and downs of the movers and shakers in this event.

As Day 3 came to a close it was Max Silver who held the chip lead with 1,780,000. The Brit, who has been in great form recently grabbing cashes in the UKIPT Dublin event, a WPT event and WSOPE Event 4, bagged up a stack just big enough to edge out fellow Brit Chris Moorman. Moorman sits on 1,769,000 and he will be looking to grab himself a WSOP bracelet by the end of Day 5.

Day 3 saw the bubble breaking and the unlucky recipient of being the ‘bubble-boy’ was legend of the game Barry Greenstein. Once he had gone, the remaining 64 players were all guaranteed at least €20,000 in prize money from the €10,000 buy-in event. A solid field of 593 players bought into the event and a prize pool of €5,692,800 was amassed.

Those who fell today but did get their mitts on some money include the likes of Victor Ramdin, Freddy Deeb and Hoyt Corkins. While two Brits lead the way in the main event, a British poker legend, Barny Boatman, also went on a deep run finishing 51st for €21,475, whilst Liv Boeree came 36th for €27,500.

Those left to battle it out read like a who’s who of poker with big names such as Tony G sitting on a short stack of 226,000, John Duthie and Erik Seidel on 314,000 and 242,000 respectively, and Patrik Antonius with 696,000. With the quality of players left, it’s sure to be a hectic few days over in Cannes and we’ll be here to keep you updated every step of the way.
