I was chatting with Bluff Radio's Jason "Spaceman" Kirk outside the dealers' tent at the end of the dinner break when Pokerblog's own Dan Michalski took a phone call from Party Poker qualifier Richard Wyrick. Dan asked Wyrick how the day had gone for him and other journalistic sort of questions, but the conversation quickly turned to strategy. As Jason was filling me in that he had it from WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack that we were playing down to 45 tonight, NOT 54 I heard Dan say, "Listen, if your M is 14 you need to start targeting the medium stacks...don't think about tightening up..."
Wyrick has made it through over 99% of the largest tournament field in poker history and he's asking Michalski for advice?! He's doomed!
Coming back from the break, Wyrick has nearly 1.2 million in chips and hopefully sense enough to recognize a fish when he sees one ;)
