The World Series of Poker (WSOP) has unveiled its 2012 schedule, which features a total of 61 events between the 27th May and the 16th July. Rumours have been circulating of a venue change but the WSOP has confirmed that it will be staying at the Las Vegas, Rio, which has put in a further 92 poker tables with opening the Brasilia Ballroom.

As the presidential elections will be in the first week of November the WSOP Main Event final table at the November Nine has been moved to October and will not be as long as previous years.

This year they have included an event that has everyone talking, the first ever $1 Million Buy-in Tournament. It has been named “The Big One for One Drop” and is scheduled for the 1st July. Each buy-in will see $111,111 go to the One Drop Foundation a charity fighting for universal access to water. As more than 22 players have entered the tournament the WSOP have made this a bracelet event. Although the event has been capped at 48 players, Bobby Baldwin, Tom Dwan and Jonathan Duhamel have already put their names down. This promises to be an event well worth watching.

The WSOP have also announced that there will be another four bracelet event this year, a $3,000 Heads-up No Limit Hold’em/Pot-Limit Omaha event, a $5,000 buy-in, a “mix-max” No Limit Hold’em format. Event 28 will also be a new bracelet event with a $2,500 buy-in four-handed No Limit Hold’em event, and finally a $1,500 buy-in ante-only No Limit Hold’em event.

This year also sees the first ever re-entry tournament for the WSOP with a $1,500 No Limit Hold’em where, if a player falls out on Saturday, they can get back in on Sunday.
