Oct 14

The World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) over in Cannes, France has crowned a new bracelet holder in the form of American Tristan Wade. He took down Event 4, which was a No Limit Hold’Em Shootout. The tournament saw 258 players pay the €3,200 buy-in creating a €743,040 prize pool.

The format means that there were a number of 9-handed (as well as a handful of 8-handed tables) and each table played down to one winner. Thirty tables were filled out and the winner of each table made it through to round 2 and was guaranteed at least a min-cash.

A plethora of big names made it to the final 30 players, including the likes of Freddy Deeb, Vanessa Selbst, Chad Brown, James Mitchell and Tobias Reinkemeier. Also making it through was another of the players set to play in the World Series of Poker Main Event final table, Ukrainian Anton Makiievsky.

However, none of those players made it to the final 10, which meant they all took home a min-cash of €6,913. The final 10 still had some big names left in including Brit James Dempsey, Steve O’Dwyer and tournament phenom Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier.

But it was American Tristan Wade who beat all of those big names to take down the event and with it, his first ever World Series of Poker bracelet. The top place finish also won him a massive €182,048 in prize money.

He beat out Canadian Michael Watson in heads-up play after calling Watson’s 4-bet shove. Watson held A5 of hearts against Wade’s pocket Jacks. The Jacks held as the board ran out QQ4T2.

The final table results were:

1st Tristan Wade €182,048
2nd Michael Watson €112,526
3rd Richard Toth €84,016
4th Max Silver €63,151
5th Bertrand Grospellier €47,763
6th Steve O’Dwyer €36,357
