The biggest worldwide tour in poker, the World Poker Tour (WPT) has been flying around the world in recent times and this week is pulling into its first stop in the Czech Republic with the WPT Prague. The main event will kick off today, Thursday 1st December.
The events are taking place at the Corinthia Casino and the main event is another of the WPT’s popular re-entry formats. The buy-in is a €3,200 + €300 event but offers players who bust out on Day 1a to re-enter on Day 1b and get a new starting stack. This event has seen an increased field in a number of WPT events after fields had dwindled with the $10,000 buy-in. To boost numbers, the WPT are also running super satellites at the casino for just a €110 buy-in where players can win their way into the tournament. With a 30,000 starting stack and 60-minute starting blinds it is a deep event where players really get a lot of value and play from their buy-in.
The Five Diamond World Poker Classic
Meanwhile, the Bellagio Casino in Las Vegas is sticking with a $10,000 + $300 buy-in for their main event from the Five Diamond World Poker Classic, which is also affiliated with the WPT. The Five Diamond World Poker Classic hosts 18 events over its series and last year saw poker pro and WSOP commentator Antonio Esfandiari show his skills beating out a 438 player field for $870,124 for the top prize.
If the $10,000 buy-in isn’t big enough for your bankroll, the Bellagio will again be hosting, as part of its tournament series, a High Roller event with a $100,000 buy-in. Last year Erik Seidel took that event down for a $1,092,000 top prize.
