Liv Boeree

Olivia ‘Liv’ Boeree, born in 1984, is a professional poker player from England, United Kingdom. Boeree, who was born in Kent, studied physics at the University of Manchester prior to relocating to London. In addition to playing poker, she has devoted time to TV presenting and modelling work.

Boeree gained an introduction into poker when she was chosen to be a contestant on Ultimatepoker.com Showdown, a reality TV show shown on channel Five in late 2005. During the course of the show, Boeree was mentored by Phil Hellmuth, himself a professional in the game of poker. Boeree went on to appear on the TV show Codex on Channel 4 in 2006.

Following her appearance on these shows, she took on poker playing on a professional basis. She also won a role as a TV presenter for Gutshot TV where she reported from the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas. Not long after, she hosted Challenge TV’s European Poker Tour (EPT) coverage and the WSOP Europe on WorldSeriesofPoker.com.

Boeree successes include a 1st place win at Caesars Palace, a 7th place Welsh Amateur Poker Championships finish and a win at the 2007 Five Diamond Poker Classic in Las Vegas.

She was a featured player in the Gala UK Poker Tour Season 1 shown on Channel 4, the 2007 World Women’s Open shown on channel Five and on the show Sky Poker on 2008. In May 2008, Boeree was the winner of the 2008 Ladbrokes European Ladies Championships.

Boeree cashed in a total of two events played at the 2008 WSOP: Event 38 $2,000 Pot Limit Holdem in which she finished 49th and Event 41 $1,500 Mixed Limit Holdem in which she finished 64th. She won $4,074 and $2,793 at these events respectively. She finished at the 2008 Aruba Classic in 49th place.

In January 2009, Boeree finished in 7th place at the $1,500 NLH Bounty event, winning $18,900 AUD and made the final table twice in the preliminary events making up the April 2009 World Poker Tour (WPT) Championships scooping a total of $23,000 in the process.

She also finished 37th in the WPT Main Event, winning $41,000. Boeree won the April 2010 EPT in Sanremo. She won €1,250,000 at the event and became the third woman to have ever won an EPT title. Boeree is part of team PokerStars.

Boeree is the author of a poker column in Bluff Europe, an industry magazine. Her work has been made the front cover of the magazines Gambling Online, World Poker Tour and Online Gambler. She appeared on the TV show Golden Balls on ITV in July 2007.

On this show, she managed to reach the Split or Steal game and walked away with the £6500.50 jackpot. Boeree co-presented on the DVD Metal Hammer’s Golden Gods which was free with the September 2008 issue of the magazine. She also had a three-page feature devoted to her in Loaded Magazine in November 2008.
