Scandi Results On Hold

CAMBRIDGE, ENGLAND-There might be a Scandi out there wondering who at the Scandi Masters won the crown. Hate to tell you....PartyPoker and Off the Wall Productions won't let you know until October when it is aired on Scandinavian Channel 5 television. I can tell you the final table began at 1 p.m. and ended around 8:30 p.m. and that once poker play had officially ended, Brocket Hall released the alcohol...mostly beer and wine, but Aki Pyysing had stashed some Scotch Whisky and was willing to share. We had been dry since the beginning of the week. Private cash games of Chinese poker and Hold'em broke out, Scandinavian rap music blasted about, and things otherwise just got quite drinky. The celebration was still going strong when I left Brocket at 5:3o a.m.

In all despite jet lag and the overall Scandi language barrier, I enjoyed the tournament held in a British mansion with a scandalous past.

P.S. I just found out that parts of The Omen II (scenes of the American Ambassadors residence) were filmed at Brocket.

Jen, fantastic picture.

But I hope our very good friends at PartyPoker and whoever is Off the Wall come to realize that if they want their event "publicized" on the internet, it's kinda important to us to provide info our readers want -- and that generally includes the winners.

Back in the day (like 2 years ago), ESPN used to try to prevent magazines from giving the results of the WSOP before it aired. They didn't understand that the internet makes it impossible to keep a secret ... and people who learn the results on the internet tend to be more likely to watch the show.

(Now they do understand, and cover it on their own website.)

in the meantime, you don't have to post the results ... just whisper them in my ear ...

agreed........but apparently Party thinks it will increase TV ratings if people don't know who won ahead of time. I can understand. It might take the fun out of it for some, but for me watching World Poker Tour and WSOP events it is different. Even though I know Joe Hachem won the WSOP last year, I still wanted to watch the final table to see how it all happened...even if I could get the chip counts and card plays on a website somewhere else. Despite already knowing Jamie Gold won this year's main event, I have a feeling the WSOP TV ratings this year will be through the roof...his recent WSOP scandal which has been blasted all over blogs and other internet sites probably will have something to do with that.

So for those of you who are curious to know who currently wears the big purple Scandinavian Masters crown, you will just have to wait until um...December...but I do promise photos at that point. So sit tight.
