Zynga Live Poker

If you love poker but have so far been disappointed by the quality of poker applications available for the  iPhone or iPod Touch, then Live Poker by Zynga might be of interest to you.  The interface is in fact much closer to the real thing than Apple’s in-house Texas Hold’em poker application.

While you can’t play for real money with Live Poker, you can play against other people.  Players start off with a certain amount of simulated money in the bank (how much depends on whether you use the free or paid version) and your aim is to build up your bank balance over time.

One of the coolest features of this new game is that you can connect with your Facebook buddies to play an online game using the iPhone 3G or Wi-Fi network.  Players with any experience of playing poker will also have no problem grasping the layout of the game.

While Zynga offers no groundbreaking features, it does offer the tried-and-trusted recipe of online poker sites adapted for the iPhone platform.  There is even a bell to warn you that it is your turn to play.

Perhaps the only drawback of Live Poker is that you can’t play for real money.  While serious poker players might find this a deal breaker, anyone who simply plays poker for the love of the game will not find it much of a problem.

Live Poker by Zynga is a lot of fun to play, especially if you use the feature allowing you to join up with your Facebook buddies.  You can even use some of your hard earned money to buy virtual drinks for your friends.  Apart from betting, folding and raising, you can also chat with your contacts live.

Live Poker can be downloaded for free from Zynga and iTunes.
