TWU2Casino dealers, including poker dealers, at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas voted by nearly a 3-1 margin in favor of union representation on 12/23 in a National Labor Relations Board-sanctioned election held at the property.

The count was 380 in favor and 128 opposed to union representation by Las Vegas Dealers 721, an affiliate of the New York-based Transport Workers Union. Vote certification by the labor board is expected the first week of January. Over 90% of the dealers voted in the election.

A Harrah’s spokesperson was quoted as saying:

“We are disappointed that our dealers chose to be represented by the Transport Workers Union.”

This is not the first time casino dealers have voted to have union representation. However, no previous vote has resulted in a sustained union contract. We will see how this latest unionization attempt plays out.
