We don't often talk about actual poker hands here on PokerBlog but I just couldn't pass this one up. Actually I couldn't believe it happened but I sent a screen shot off to the moderator, so he wouldn't think I was making this up. And No! I do not think online poker is rigged.
This hand happened in a $5.00 +.50 Sit-N-Go, eight players are still in. Here is the hand.
Under the gun makes a 1X raise; there are two callers before me and I also call with 77. The big blind makes it five players to the flop.
The flop is K 10 8 rainbow. All check.
The turn is my 7, all check to me and I move all-in. All four players call my all-in bet putting two of them all-in and the other two have less than 100 chips left.
(Remember is a five buck single table satellite).
The river is an Ace making the board K 10 8 7 A; no flush and a couple of weird straight possibilities. The last two players put their few remaining chips into the third side pot and I await someone showing J9 or perhaps a rivered broadway with QJ. Everyone agree that at least one player has the J9 right? Maybe two? three?
Well you know this is going to be strange but this is STRANGE! I know you are waiting for me to say all four players have J9 for the turned straight.
Nope!
The showdown hands are KK 1010 88 77(mine)and AA.
Yes, it was set over set over set over set over set.
The set of Aces took all four pots and I got to write a really strange hand report for the PokerBlog.

Pokerblog welcomes contributions from everyone and anyone on all things poker.
This is a moderated blog but we are really interested in diverse points of view from all parts of the world. So if you have something to say, please create an account (takes 2 minutes), you will have full blog post access that appear exactly like this post. Of course, comments on posts already up are also welcomed.
Care to join the conversation?
Like the mythic Phoenix rising from the ashes, PokerBlog rises from the smouldering pyrrhic pile of the UIGEA. Yes, I do take note that this is happening on April Fool's Day but this is no joke, well wait a second, perhaps I should rephrase.
Three congressmen walk into a cathouse; the madam says: "Sorry, no professional discounts."
So where have we been?
Well like so many of the online poker sites, outlets and blogs; we were hurt, hammered and hampered by the Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act and the cowboy enforcement of the still unclear regulations of that bill. I say "still unclear" because the 270 day period for the Secretary of the Treasury and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System to issue the regulations they are required to prescribe... Well that 270 days has yet to expire and there have been no statutory rules or guidelines issued. Instead the Justice Department of the United States government has randomly sought to intimidate various officers of online sites and seize $55 million dollars of US citizens funds tied up in Neteller. As you can imagine, making business decisions about how to proceed in this reactionary enforcement environment is very difficult for everyone involved. Operations in the United States is clearly not the only problem with Canadian, French and Turkish regulators to name just a few, taking legal and illegal shots at our beloved game.
One of the saddest short term results has been the lost of many good bloggers and writers who were involved in the world of poker. We regret that loss and hope a reasoned solution to any viable governmental concerns about online gaming, will allow our missing collegues to return to covering all things poker.
Anyway, PokerBlog is back and the Poker Shrink is back to yack at you about anything & everything poker. I will try to maintain a reasonable mix of light poker news, a little deeper insight when the muse moves me and an always constant eye out for the ever present overabundance of smarmy press release "news" items that come out of the bowels of the poker public relations bargain basement.
Speaking of smarmy.... tomorrow's first item will cover the lastest on 2006 WSOP Main Event Champion Jamie Gold. Stay tuned and Welcome Back My Friends to the Show that Periodically Ends.

Now that our run here at Pokerblog has ended (and what a fine, fun run it was) I thought I'd take a moment to point you to other spots on the web that might help fill the void in your life created by our absence.
For tournament news, be sure to check out Spaceman's work at Bluff along with the boys at LasVegasVegas. LVV is also a great source for all things Vegas, such as the news that Harrah's is being sold. Also keep an eye on our friends over at CardSquad and Pokerworks, plus there are literally hundreds of poker bloggers cranking out pokery goodness daily. Haley has a pretty extensive list of them all on her site.
It's been a pleasure filling this site with poker news for you, and we thank for you joining us. When you think of us, do so fondly, and with a shot of Tuaca in your hand.
PokerBlog at the Final Table: It was good times at Casa de April, site of a $20 No-Limit Hold'em freezeout held in honor of her 30th birthday. Though the event featured no online qualifiers, we're proud to report that (L to R) April, yours truly, and Amy all made the final table(!) -- with April winning the whole dang thing.
AUSTIN, Texas--OK, actually she chopped a $140 prize pool with the second-place finisher. But hey, since it was April's party and we were using her table, chips, and cards, tournament officials awarded her the title and the coveted victory Tuaca shot. Big ups for the impressive PokerBlogger play and festive consumption of our favorite bonus code! Much fun was had by all, even though CardPlayer wasn't there to cover it.
The birthday tourney wasn't the only reason for a Halloween-weekend trip to the Texas capitol, however ...
Also on the Austin agenda were very important meetings drinks with some professional lobbyists, seasoned political advisors, and at least one Congressional candidatate -- part of a continuing effort to figure out where exactly online poker went wrong in the U.S. and what the poker industry might-should do moving forward. While the launch party for a new hipster website (Do512.com) may not seem like the best place to devise legislative strategy, introducing influential politicos to the greatness of Tuaca is probably more important to the future of poker than some might think.
While PokerBlog might not be headed to Aruba, we are holding our first ever online tourney tomorrow (7 pm eastern) where the prize is a cruise. Where said cruise is going, I couldn't tell you -- as that will likely depend on who wins. Regardless, here is the announcement with pertinent info:
So I guess Dr. Tim's impressive performance in PartyPoker's Sunday Million makes him the favorite in our inaugural PokerBlog online event ... a special freeroll for WSOP bloggers in which the winner receives a cruise for two to, um ... uh ... I'm not sure where. (Mark your online calendars -- Sept. 21st, 7 pm eastern.)
Much of what we're doing here is still just getting set up. And with that in mind, we need a PartyPoker bonus code. PokerBlog is not an affiliate site like so many others, but our good friends at PartyPoker have decided to give us a bonus code to reward people who sign up through this site ... and, frankly, to keep track of how many new players we bring their way.
We came up with a pretty ingenius one: pokerblog. But alas, someone else has it already. (Damn shill!) So now we are stuck trying to come up with something else. We are looking for 1) simple, 2) catchy, 3) indicative of the underlying essence of PokerBlog, and 4) difficult to misspell.
So any ideas? "Iggy" is also already taken. The next best one I've come up with is "goodlatte". I'd like to open the floor to all PokerBlog writers and readers. In fact, why not make this a contest, too?
Give us your best shot in the comments below. If you suggest the winning bonus code, you will receive free entry into, um ... something. Some event, somewhere down the line, and maybe a PokerBlog T-shirt ... when we get around to making those, too.

RE: Blogging rules, restrictions, and guidelines

Please note that it is generally unwise to drink and blog at the same time. Even worse, to be bona fide drunk and then blog (or comment). Remember, we are the professional poker blog, not a bunch of degenerates. C'mon people, we have high standards to uphold! Our readers expect more from us, and drunk blogging can lead to multiple typos, idiotic comments, and/or arrest. You should also be aware that the process of preparing to blog drunk can result in losing money to Kenna James in Roshambo.
OK, you all have been duly warned and chastised. Party on. Now get back to work.
ALT HED: Note to Self
And, of course ...
Poker Shrink: Tim Lavalli is the neurological sciences columnist for PokerNews. He's got an actual Ph.D, so he's really smart -- just ask him. We look forward to his coverage of the action on and off the tables going down in Las Vegas. Dr. Tim's also nice to have around because a lot of poker players are, shall we say, a little off-kilter? And here at PokerBlog, he's the closest thing we've got to a health plan.
Our little PokerBlog family has scattered to the four winds in the two weeks since the end of the World Series. But Dan Michalski has done a great job of putting Humpty-Dumpty back together again. Here is a rundown of who will be here at PokerBlog informing and entertaining you about all things poker and near-poker and sometimes not.
Jennifer Browning: You only have a scroll down a bit to see that Jennifer is hard at work (OK we know this is a tough assignment but someone had to do it). Jennifer is currently in England photographing the Scandi Masters and I am sure having just a horrible time otherwise. Nice gig Jennifer! Exactly who did you have to ..... Oh wait! Nevermind.
Dan Michalski: Also known as "Fearless Leader" will be offering his thoughts and insights when he is not mercilessly demanding more output from the rest of us. Dan can also be found on a regular basis at his home station Pokerati.com.
Change100: Also up and writing already as the Los Angeles area correspondent. We can also expect continuing updates on the "Fashions of Poker" from the Deva of the Felt. The other 'Changing' persona can be dialed up at Pot Committed.
Jen Leo: is currently off on a book tour for her latest What Color is Your Jockstrap. But Jen will be resurfacing here shortly and we should be hearing from her from many interesting locations throughout the poker world; consdier Jen our 'poker and travel' correspondent. Also find Jen & Amy at Breakfast Club Poker.
Aimlessly Amy: Speaking of Amy, she will also be returning to the PokerBlog conversation from multiple venues along the poker road. Besides Breakfast Club Poker, you can also find her diverse thoughts on her personal blog Aimlessly Chasing Amy.
April Kyle: April will also remain with the PokerBlog gang but she will be combining her work here with attending the University of Texas to complete her degree in government. I expect some compelling insights about gambling, bluffing and going heads up from April and I am talking about government here not poker. One wonders what the content of April's blog will be in the months to come: this is not a poker blog.
Tuscaloosa Johnny: This may be a somewhat more sane (notice I only said 'somewhat') approach to education:
"Prior to the Series I was playing poker for a living and traveling to the various tournaments. I started grad school at 'Bama this week, studying for a masters in marketing, but will continue to play poker to earn my bread until I get out of school next spring."
.
I suspect we haven't heard the last from Johnny.
charliebigtime: Coming to you from every possible corner of Las Vegas, as long as that means he can stay inside the one hundred and seventy-two walls of the Bellagio, his home away from home, it's Steve "Yes Miss I am a Photographer" Hall. I am going to rely on Steve for many of my photos for PokerBlog, which probably means there will be a lot more cleavage in my reports then in the past.
BJ Nemeth: BJ is deep into his post-Series coccoon but he should surface in a week or nine and we can get back to our conversation on the Face & Fate of Poker in the Twenty-First Century. Expect BJs personal blog to reemerge soon too.
So what's next for PokerBlog?
With the WSOP over and everyone departing Vegas, will our crack group of reporters continue to cover other tournaments and poker happenings around the globe (Legends of Poker starts in two weeks at the Bicycle)?
I have grown quite fond of getting my daily poker updates here, and I would love to see it continue. I don't know if that's possible, but it sure would be nice.
